Precision Fit Joinery specialises in one-off custom designed furniture through a process of co-design.
Philosophy
Great design is achieved only when the balance between form and function is achieved. Art for art’s sake has its place, just as having a functional solution devoid of any aesthetic considerations can be valid. Precision fit is all about seeking in every commission, the right balance between the two. Form must have a value as prominent as function. We work with interior designers and architects to develop fitted joinery solutions that meet both the aesthetic intent of the design with the practical needs of the homeowner / user. Often we collaborate with designers to give a client a finished product that is both beautiful, and functional.
The best design only lasts as long as the constructed piece. This is why all our work is of such a high standard. We want it to last. We support the turning tide to quality. Being locally made, locally sourced and designed and built to last, we actively reject the false value and ecologically destructive approach of a disposable mass-produced solution.
Where possible our commissions are either constructed out of repurposed timber, and or Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) approved timber.
Ecological Capitalism
What is it? No it’s not an oxymoron! From our inception we have been passionate about setting an example of how being a successful business within our capitalist system does not mean that we cannot simultaneously contribute to the ecological sustainability of our community and our way of life.
For us it incorporates social responsibility actions as well as ecological initiatives. We measure our social responsibility via our triple bottom line reporting structure.
So our view of sustainability is not limited to reduce, reuse and repurpose. At Precision Fit Joinery, sustainability is a philosophy that is central to every decision and every action of the business. We welcome any opportunity to discuss this philosophy and approach with our clients and the broader maker community.
